Let’s be clear - climate change is real, and if we don’t start taking serious measures we are going to leave Long Island vulnerable to unpredictable weather, environmental degradation, and inadequate infrastructure. We saw the real consequences of climate change during Hurricane Sandy, and we must do everything we can to prevent other natural disasters from wreaking havoc on our communities. We can help confront climate change by passing the Climate and Community Protections Act. We must also protect our fresh water resources and clean drinking water by preventing ground pollutants and the infiltration of seawater from ruining our Long Island aquifers.
